The National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of those behind the killing of the union's Lagos State Organising Secretary, Comrade Toba Ajiboye, popularly called Toba Ijaya.

Describing the murder as "heinous, barbaric and unacceptable," Akinsanya urged the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to leave no stone unturned in tracking down everyone connected with the deadly attack.

Toba was reportedly shot by unidentified gunmen on Sunday night at Fadeyi in Lagos. He was rushed to St. Nicholas Hospital on Lagos Island, where he later died from injuries sustained during the attack.

Reacting to the tragedy, MC Oluomo described the late union leader as a loyal, committed and hardworking officer whose contributions to the NURTW and the transport sector would never be forgotten.

He extended condolences to Ajiboye's family and members of the Lagos State Council of the union, praying that Allah grants them the strength to bear the painful loss.

The NURTW president also appealed to members across Lagos to remain calm, avoid taking the law into their own hands and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue.

Akinsanya pledged the full support of the national leadership of the union to law enforcement agencies, insisting that everyone involved in the killing must be identified, arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed that some suspects have already been arrested in connection with the killing. At the same time, investigations have been intensified to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The police boss added that security has been strengthened across Lagos and urged residents to remain calm and continue their daily activities without fear, as efforts to bring all those responsible to justice continue.
