The Returning Officer for the Osun State governorship election, Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, has officially declared the Accord candidate, Ademola Adeleke, winner of the keenly contested 2026 governorship election.
Adeleke emerged victorious with 511,067 votes, defeating his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who secured 444,815 votes.
The ADC candidate, Najeem Salaan, finished a distant third with 17,180 votes.
The declaration brings to an end a closely watched electoral contest that attracted significant attention across Osun State, with voters turning out to decide who would lead the state for the next political term.
With the official declaration, attention now shifts to the next phase as political parties and supporters digest the outcome of the election.
