Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his commitment to a credible, peaceful and transparent governorship election in the state.
Adeleke spoke shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of the Osun State governorship election, securing a second term in office at his residence.
The governor thanked President Tinubu for ensuring that the will of the people prevailed, stressing that the peaceful conduct of the election was a positive development for Nigeria’s democracy.
"I want to seize this opportunity to thank Mr. President, Adeleke said, while appreciating the President for his assurances of of a credible election before the election.
He further disclosed that President Tinubu had personally called to congratulate him on his victory and wished him well in his second term.
"Mr. President has called me and he has congratulated me. I thank you Mr. President for making sure democracy lives on because you fought for it," Governor Adeleke said.
He also stressed that he expected other candidates like Oyebamiji to have called him and congratulate him as a civilised person.
Adeleke’s comments came as political attention shifted to the next phase of governance, with the governor expected to focus on consolidating his administration’s programmes and delivering on his promises to the people of Osun State.
