As Nigeria marked its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Executive Chairman of Òdì-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Hon. Seyi Jakande, joined millions of citizens across the country in celebrating the historic milestone.
Jakande, in his goodwill message, extended warm congratulations to Nigerians, particularly residents of Lagos State and the Ã’dì-Olowo/Ojuwoye community, describing the day as a moment of pride and reflection on the nation’s journey since 1960.
“Today celebrates our long journey of freedom, resilience, and the many achievements we have made together as a people,” Jakande stated. “It is also a day to remember the sacrifices of our founding fathers who fought for our independence and to renew our determination to keep Nigeria united.”
The council boss emphasized that despite Nigeria’s challenges, the country has remained strong and indivisible. He called on citizens to continue upholding the values of unity, peace, and progress, stressing that these are the foundations upon which the nation can achieve greater development.
“As we celebrate this milestone, let us renew our commitment to community development and mutual support,” he urged. “The work of nation-building does not rest on government alone; it requires the collective efforts of every citizen, from the grassroots to the national level.”
Hon. Jakande concluded his message with a note of encouragement, saying: “Our challenges may be many, but our strength as a people is greater. Let us continue to work hand in hand for a Nigeria that is peaceful, prosperous, and united.”
