The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has commended one of its officers, Muibi Ademola (Bravo 27), for displaying rare integrity and professionalism by rejecting a ₦20,000 offer from a grateful motorist at the Ago–Ibiwoye axis of Okota, Lagos.
According to The Nation newspaper report of October 22, 2025, the incident occurred after a motorist called Officer Ademola’s attention to a traffic buildup in the area. The officer quickly moved to the scene and efficiently cleared the congestion.
Impressed by his swift response and dedication, the motorist offered him ₦20,000 in appreciation — an offer Officer Ademola politely declined, stating that he was only doing his job as a public servant of the Lagos State Government.
Reacting to the development, LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, applauded Officer Ademola for his “uncommon integrity and professionalism,” describing his conduct as “a reflection of the ethical reawakening and service excellence” being championed under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
Bakare-Oki emphasized that such exemplary behaviour restores public confidence in LASTMA and projects the agency as a symbol of transparency and accountability. He urged other officers to emulate Ademola’s example by upholding honesty and fairness in their duties.
He also reaffirmed the management’s commitment to continuous ethical reorientation, discipline, and operational excellence through regular training and improved welfare.
In his response, Officer Ademola expressed gratitude to the LASTMA management and the Lagos State Government for their ongoing support and investment in staff development, which he credited for shaping his professional values and performance.
The officer’s act of integrity has since earned widespread commendation, with many Lagos residents describing him as a “true ambassador” of ethical public service.
