The Association of Nigerian Theater Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has firmly debunked widespread rumours claiming that veteran Nollywood icon, Lere Paimo, popularly known as Eda Onile Ola, has passed away.
In a statement issued by the National PRO, Prince Adejonwo Oluwafemi Femson, the association clarified that contrary to reports circulating on social media, the 86-year-old legend is alive, healthy, and in good spirits.
“We would like to inform the public that reports circulating on Facebook about the passing of Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR) are FALSE,” the ANTP said.
The association added that the information was verified directly from his wife, who confirmed that the veteran actor is “alive and in good health.”
ANTP urged the public to ignore the fake reports, warning that such misinformation is the handiwork of “unscrupulous individuals” seeking to cause unnecessary panic.
They further called on Nigerians to always verify information before sharing, especially when it involves public figures.
Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR), the Board of Trustees Chairman of ANTP, has had a remarkable career spanning over six decades. Since beginning his acting journey in 1958, he has featured in several classics including Saworoide, Oleku, and Ogbori Elemonso.
The living legend remains an enduring pillar of the Nigerian film industry.
