The Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe, has announced the postponement of the 2026 Children’s Day celebration earlier scheduled to hold on Thursday, June 4, at Megbon Primary School, Mushin, citing security concerns and solidarity with families affected by the reported abduction of children in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

According to a statement issued by the Chairman’s Chief Press Secretary, Comrade Mustapha, the decision was taken in response to the prevailing situation and the need to prioritise the safety and welfare of children. Hon. Aruwe expressed concern over the security challenges affecting children and communities, stressing that safeguarding lives remains a top priority for his administration. He also extended prayers and solidarity to the victims and their families, describing children as the “pride and future of the nation.”

The council urged parents, guardians, schools, and residents to take note of the development, assuring that a new date for the Children’s Day celebration would be announced in due course.
