The Mushin Chapter of the APC Eko 57 Grassroots Movement for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Dr Obafemi Kadri Hamzat's 2027 governorship campaign on Saturday joined the July Monthly Lagos Environmental Sanitation Exercise with a large-scale environmental sensitisation and clean-up campaign across Mushin Market and Ago-Ishaga Market.

Beyond raising awareness, members of the group actively swept the markets, cleared heaps of refuse, and loaded the waste into an official waste collection truck, demonstrating the proper way to dispose of waste rather than dumping it on road medians, street corners, or drainage channels after sweeping shops and their surroundings.

During the exercise, traders and residents were educated on the need to take ownership of their environment, with the group stressing that maintaining a clean Lagos is a collective responsibility that requires the active participation of every citizen alongside government efforts.

The campaign also reinforced the Lagos State Government's environmental policies by urging market men and women to embrace proper waste disposal practices and shun indiscriminate dumping, which contributes to flooding, environmental pollution, and public health risks.

Market leaders were equally encouraged to intensify efforts to discourage unauthorised waste dumping within and around the markets and to ensure that traders comply with approved waste disposal methods.

The APC Eko 57 Mushin Chapter said the initiative formed part of its commitment to supporting the Lagos State Government's environmental sustainability agenda while promoting a cleaner, healthier, and more orderly Mushin.

The sanitation exercise attracted commendation from traders and shoppers, who described the group's hands-on approach as a practical demonstration that environmental cleanliness is everyone's responsibility.
